New estate agency compliance course launches

With growing pressures on estate agents to comply with a myriad of legislation, my individual courses on Money laundering, Consumer Protection and GDPR continue to be popular with many hundreds of agents attending every year.

Feedback has however shown that a number of agents have been a little reticent about sending new starters and support staff on these programmes, taking the view that they don’t need the depth of knowledge provided in their roles. Also, many agents are simply not keeping existing staff as up to speed as they should with annual refresher training.

I am also acutely aware that there is, sadly, a significant lack of knowledge amongst staff at all levels of the day to day requirements of the Estate Agents Act and the codes of conduct of the redress schemes.

For example, in my role as an adviser to many estate agency businesses, I often see terms of business that are both non complaint and not robust enough commercially – basically not fit for purpose.

Invariably, these aspects often only come to light when something goes wrong in a transaction and a complaint is raised.

I have therefore created a new two hour training session that provides a basic outline of the core legislation affecting estate agents.

Estate Agents Act
Money Laundering Regulations
Consumer Protection Regulations
GDPR
Redress schemes and codes of conduct
Advertising Regulations

The course is aimed at new starters, support staff and those who have had detailed training but would benefit from a refresher.

  • Estate Agency Law, Money Laundering, Consumer Protection , GDPR, Redress Schemes, Advertising Regulations - A compliance introduction

Held via Zoom the course is run by Michael Day MBA FRICS FNAEA FARLA live and interactive with the opportunity for questions and discussion.
